Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word translated as Sacred Life Energy or force. Rei connotes a sense (atmosphere) of mystery of the sacred. Ki is the vital life energy (force) or spirit that enlivens all of us. It is with us at birth and grows along with the body.

The Usui System of Reiki Healing is a gentle, non-invasive hands-on form of energy transfer and works at a cellular level to affect the healing system of the body. a

Reiki enables the body to heal itself.

The hands of the practitioner are placed in specific patterns on the body while the client lies fully clothed on a bodywork table. Reiki will pass through metal, casts, leather, etc.

Reiki is unusual in that it does not deplete the practitioner's energy, on the contrary, the practitioner receives Reiki while giving it. Physical and emotional problems of others are not transferred to the practitioner.

Once one has been attuned to the energy of Reiki, all that is needed is the intent to give Reiki to help oneself.
